Reality of Happiness

Life is not a problem to be solved but a reality to be experienced. It is a strange blend of ups and downs, sorrow and happiness, success and failure, darkness and light, the good and the bad. It keeps on assessing a person’s fortitude by presenting unpredictable situations without a fore warning. Yeah! It’s strange.

Well, we all want to be happy all the time, but the reality turns out to be quite different as everyone has his/her share of favorable and unfavorable circumstances. And this too is a fact that different people or groups of people behave absolutely differently in diverse situations. For instance, an adverse financial predicament might mean a bleak future for one organization while another organization might consider the opportunity as a challenge. In this way, a hindrance can also make a person stronger and wiser. It is only while facing a difficult situation that a person comes to know of his/her real inner strengths. Just as a stone turns into a diamond only after undergoing a lot of cutting, carving and polishing, similarly emergence of varied unpredictable situations makes one stronger, more mature and determined.

Good times too are no lesser a challenge in the way that these evaluate a person’s way of handling happiness. Even otherwise, happiness would not be “so” valuable in absence of troubles. It is only defeat which makes victory so enviable.  There are times when, in spite of our best efforts, things seem to go out of our control and we feel helpless and trapped. But I think suggest following the famous quote – “God helps those who help themselves” is the best healing mantra of life at these types of situations. Just do your best and leave everything to Him. 🙂

It’s been more than a decade since the release of ‘Pursuit of Happyness’ and yet it is one such movie that sticks to my head as one of the most inspirational movies till date. The movie has a very simple message of ‘Never give up’. Being evicted from their home and facing financial difficulties, the father-son duo faced numerous struggles every day. Yet, the small bits of happiness they find, despite all adversities is what defines the actual reality of happiness.

Finding Happiness doesn’t always mean when the reality turns out to be better than your expectations but even when you work hard or try to solve the problem in a more efficient and different way. And even, then if you can’t find happiness, just stop everything, just stop engaging yourself in your thoughts & feelings, take a deep breath and start again! But don’t forget to stop yourself from looking for happiness in the same place you lost it. Surround yourself with positive people. Stop complaining. Expect less and try to have a positive outlook towards everything. Yes! Everything.  Happiness is not something we can actually have but it is something we can only pursue. All in all, Happiness is a living reality which never has a starting and/or an ending point. Either improve your reality or lower your expectations.

“The world is your oyster. It’s up to you to find the pearls”
